Mother's Day Mother Hen Dinner Party

I fell in love with the darling "Mother Hen" collection from Bird's Party the moment I saw it.  Not only are the bright colors and patterns a fun alternative to the pastel pinks that seem to typify Mother's Day, but I loved the sweet symbolism behind the mother hen.  My mom loves nothing more than to gather her little chicks together (o.k.  we aren't so little anymore) for any reason imaginable.  

I was inspired by Lynlee's Petite Cakes gorgeous Mother Hen brunch she styled last year for Bird's Party Magazine.  Her fondant hens, chicks and eggs were beyond adorable, and I knew I wanted to incorporate those into the table setting for our celebration.  (Lynlee sent me some with very little notice.  She's the best!!)

Because this was also my Mother's Day, I wanted to keep the decorating simple, so I could also enjoy the weekend.  My husband did the majority of the cooking, which allowed me to have a fun weekend with my mom.  (We had a Mexican style-dinner.)

I reused some of the props I had on hand (wooden crates in a variety of sizes, glass milk bottles, silk flowers, galvanized pails and milk jugs, etc...) and added a few new purchases (a darling hen from Hobby Lobby) and some wooden eggs (Michaels) to create a fun table for our Mother's Day dinner.  

Of course, what tied the colors and theme all together were Bird's darling printables.  I attached them to everything, because they are so versatile!  My favorite detail (besides the cupcakes with Lynlee's cute fondant work), was the individual 7 layer dip cups with the circle labels!  So easy and cute!
