DIY Marshmallow Strawberry Shaped Pops
Okay, so "strawberry shaped" is not quite the correct description. They are marshmallow-y shaped. But that wouldn't say much as a post title, right?! Plus, they do look like strawberries, so we're all good.
I often say that laziness necessity is the mother of all invention. And these marshmallows pops are a prime example: Take one party-mad 'bird' who absolutely has to have strawberry cake pops on her deserts table, but who also cannot be asked to bake nor make them from scratch. Then enters the humble strawberry-flavored marshmallow and a light-bulb "I wonder if that works" moment, and there you have it! Strawberry Pops but without the fuss.
These pops can be made at least 3 days in advance of your party, and stored in the fridge.
DIY Marshmallow Strawberry Pops Recipe
Ingredients:
* Strawberry flavored marshmallows
* Red and green candy melts - Quantity will depend on how many pops you are making. One bag of red will cover about 12-15 marshmallows. The green ones are for the "stalks".
* Lollipop sticks
* White sugar pearls
* Small paintbrush (kitchen us only!)
* Parchment paper
Directions:
1) Put red candy melts into a microwavable bowl and then into the microwave at 30 second intervals stirring in between, until fully melted. TIP: Add a little flavorless vegetable oil to the melts to make it runnier and easier to work with.
Dip the end of a lollipop stick into the red candy melts, and then insert half way into each marshmallow. Place each pop onto a tray lined with parchment paper and into the fridge for a few minutes to set.
2) Once set, dip each pop into the melted red candy melts. Tap off excess on side of the bowl and place it back onto the parchment paper. Whilst candy melt is wet, add little white sugar pearls. Don't go crazy here - as my daughter (5 years old) correctly told me whilst watching me make these, "Mama, less is more!" - Enough said?! ;)
Let each pop dry completely in the fridge for a few minutes.
3) Melt the green candy melts same as the red. Dip a paintbrush into the candy melts generously coating it, then dab the top of each pop to form the stalks - I did 5 dabs around the lollipop base. Place pops back in the fridge to set.
There you have it - Easy, quick and yummy strawberry pops!
Now just wondering what other yummy candies and goodies I can did into candy melts...
