A Balloon Themed Baby Shower

Today I'm so excited to share with you a stunning baby shower, sent to us by Rose from Cake and Party DIY! 

This baby shower is themed around balloons for a "Oh Baby, the places you'll go!" dreamy concept! I love all the colors used and the gorgeous desserts on offer!

This was my beautiful sister’s Baby Shower and of course, I was very excited to do it!  Especially at this amazing rooftop venue located at the Star Tower Condominiums in Downtown Orlando.  She wanted to go with a travel hot air balloon theme.  

This venue worked perfectly with the theme and I knew I wanted the skyline as the backdrop.  I thought the title “Oh Baby, the places you will go!” would be a good match, but decided to keep a softer vintage look without making it Dr. Seussy.  For the colors, we definitely wanted pink and white with touches of aqua.  

The cake is a pink chiffon guava cake with buttercream frosting.  The cupcakes are also guava flavor with buttercream frosting.  The cake pops are pink champagne.  

We also served chocolate-covered Oreos, fondant decorated Rice Krispies Treats, fondant-decorated sugar cookies and vanilla whoopie pies.  

For the candy, marshmallows, gumballs, rock candy, cotton candy, jelly beans, chocolate sixlets, gumdrops and taffy.  I absolutely love the soft cloudy feel that the cotton candy and marshmallows bring to the table.  

For the centerpieces I attached a balloon to a pink square basket embellished with baby pink ribbons and included a cute teddy bear inside.  The teddies are actually gift card holders.  

To complete the vintage look I placed them on a vintage picture box and glued a paper handle to make it look like a suitcase.  

For the sign-in table, I placed a vintage open suitcase filled with the cutest baby clothes, and vintage blankets, I included as many ruffled and lacy pieces that I could.  We also added the Dr. Seuss “Oh Baby” book and a play passport. 

As additional favors, I hand cut hot air balloons using scrapbook paper with a vintage print and glued a lollipop stick to the back.  

We placed vintage post cards with pictures of travel sites for guests to write messages for the new mama, papa and baby.  The polka dots suitcase was purchased at a used book sale, so it’s a true vintage piece.
