But to be honest, I don't always have those pretty farmer's market fresh fruit and veg to hand when I fancy a slice of pie (or tart). So this is where my Bakewell Tart recipe comes in SO handy!
This tart recipe uses all store cupboard (shop bought) ingredients, is super easy to make and comes together in a flash!
Bakewell Tart Recipe with Store Cupboard Ingredients
Bakewell is a town in Derbyshire, England, and this is where the tart gets its name from.
I've made this English Bakewell tart recipe with and without the crust (for a gluten free option), and also with a gluten-free store-bought pastry.
The best version is with regular short crust pastry by far. But at least you know you have options...
Like I said, I used ALL store cupboard and shop-bought ingredients, which means that when you fancy this tart, you can have it on the table in less than 30 minutes, from start to finish.
Oh, and did I mention this is such a warming, scrumptious tart? Yep, it has become my go-to dessert recipe this Fall, and my family loves it!
I tend to serve this Bakewell tart with Greek yogurt to cut through the sweetness, but you can also serve it with ice cream, whipped cream or au naturel.
You can also substitute the flavor of the jam used for whatever you fancy, like cherry, strawberry or anything else you have in your pantry.
