Hi friends! I've recently I worked with one of my favorite brands to create some dinosaur themed desserts for a recent photo shoot, which included this fun dinosaur shaped cake. So naturally, I had to share it with you guys!
This dinosaur cake was SO easy to make and is perfect for a low-key birthday party at home, a fun school event or a 1st birthday smash cake! 😁
I used a dinosaur-shaped flexible cake pan, which made the whole process super easy and fun too!
Easy Dinosaur Birthday Cake
Usually, I'm a layer cake kind of gal. But when the brand suggested I use one of their silicone dinosaur cake pans, I had to oblige! 😉
This is why the cake was much easier to make than my usual 3 layers cakes!
The cake sponge itself is my go-to Victoria cake sponge with added chocolate, and the buttercream is my favorite, easiest frosting EVER - a condensed milk frosting!
I have shared both of these basic recipes here on the blog in previous posts, but you'll also find it below so you can print it off easily.
You can of course, change the flavors of the cake sponge or the frosting too. The recipe or cake decorating technique, remain the same.
These flexible silicone cake pans or molds are very handy if you're a cake decorating newbie too, since you won't need to cut or shape your cake at all.
Just be sure to grease the pan or mold well with a cooking spray to avoid your cake being stuck in the intricate corners of the pan.
I know you're not supposed to grease these pans, but in reality, I personally prefer to do that just in case.
These cake pans are also very forgiving. So even if your bakes cake does not turn out 100% perfect, you can still pipe some frosting on top to cover a multitude of sins 😁
I tinted my frosting dark and light green, but once again, feel free to change the colors to suit your taste.
Oh yeah, and to finish off the dinosaur vibe, I added crushed Oreo cookies to look like dirt around the cake 😉
