Ever since I've shared my yummy strawberries and cream popsicles here on the blog, I've been asked if I can replace the cream with yogurt.
So I decided to do just that, and have used Greek Yogurt instead of cream for a lighter, healthier take on these summer treats!
Well, I didn't use any strawberries but mango puree instead. You can in fact use any seasonal fruit to make popsicles or frozen lollipops.
Mango and Yogurt Popsicles
Popsicles are such an easy dessert to make, requires few ingredients and you can pretty much make them in any shape or flavor you fancy!
These frozen popsicles also offer a refreshing treat or dessert to have during summer months, and a great way to make use and savor those delicious, healthy summer fruits! hence this mango and yogurt popsicles recipe!
For this recipe, I used mango puree or pulp, but you can use the pulp of any fruit, or even layer different fruit pulps and make layered popsicles like in this recipe here.
Making fruit popsicles is also a great way to make the kids (and adults) eat more fruit in a fun and easy way, not to mention that's is healthier than other desserts and super easy to make too!
Of course, as far as toppings and flavors go, you don't have to stop at fruits...or even fresh fruits! You can use frozen fruits, dried fruits, you can add chocolate chips, coconut flakes, gummy bears, crushed cookies, etc.
The best fresh fruits to use are obviously ripe fruits that make sweet purees and pulps without need to add extra sugar. But you can also use honey or any other sweetener of choice depending on your diet or taste.
If you prefer a less healthy, and sweeter popsicle, then I recommend using condensed milk to sweeten your fruity mixture. Not only it tastes delicious, but it adds a nice creaminess to the popsicle flavor!
Of course, you can also freeze chocolate milk, coffee or any other fruit juices that's commercially available or even add some soda or fizzy drink in there for extra fun!
For a grown-up version, why not try a dash of Vodka or Tequila too? I made a few cheeky alcoholic popsicles a while back that you can check out here.
