Neutral Easter Tablescape and DIY Mantel Decor
I know I'm a little late posting these this year, but hopefully you can still find some quick and easy ideas here, and feel inspired to create an inviting and meaningful table to gather around with your loved ones this Easter!
I have ditched all my usual colorful props in favor of a more neutral, relaxing and peaceful style in-keeping with the faith-filled ambiance I was trying to create for this neutral Easter tablescape and DIY mantel decor.
Neutral Easter Tablescape and DIY Mantel Decor
I feel that sometimes a lot of the religious holidays and celebrations are unfortunately hijacked by the consumerism of our current day and age, so I tried to keep things simpler with this tablescape, trying to focus more on the real meaning of Easter, which is the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
With the current world situation, I think more than ever, I find myself re-thinking the way I celebrate at home. More than ever, the simpler things and a slower pace of life are infinitely more appealing to me and consequently more treasured!
I think this is what this tablescape reflects - my current mood to take things slower, to be more present and to focus on what/who really matters. So these DIY and craft projects are projects that bring joy to my heart and soul, that I enjoy making and that have meaning to my family.
Anyways, I do love a pretty table with crafty details though, so I tried to incorporate some DIY projects into my styling and pull in pieces which I already owned or could re-purpose for this occasion.
The idea was to use what I had, shop my home and style pieces in a different way to give you ideas on how to style a neutral tablescape with religious elements for your own Easter celebrations!
DIY Easter Farmhouse Scroll Kraft Sign
The first thing I did was to dress the mantlepiece that acts as the backdrop to my dining table. I love how it turned out and it was super inexpensive to make! Not to mention that you can change up the text each season and have a beautiful work of art in your home all year around!
For that project, I created a farmhouse-style Kraft sign using my Silhouette cutting machine and some black vinyl.
I created the designs of this sign to convey a Bible verse from Matthew 28:6, and added flowers and flourishes to make it large enough to act as a wall décor. I designed it to fit a 75 cm x 55 cm canvas and used Kraft wrapping paper.
It was such a fun project and turned out prettier than I envisaged in my head! I can't wait to try to make more of these signs for other occasions and celebrations!
If you don't have a cutting machine, you can use tracing paper and a black sharpie (like I did in this blog post) to write text by hand. You can print a pattern, text or design on the computer, and then use tracing paper to trace letters onto the Kraft paper to help you.
Check out the video below to see how I made my farmhouse scroll sign.
DIY Easter Egg Garland
To dress the front of the mantel, I create an Easter egg garland using plastic eggs and polystyrene eggs. This was one of the quickest DIY projects ever, but I love how pretty and bespoke it looks!
You can of course change the colors and sizes of the eggs to suit your décor and style, but I chose neutral colors to match the vibe I was going for.

DIY Wood Beaded Cross Garland & Easter Mantel Décor
To complete my tablescape and Easter décor I made wood bead crosses, which I added to a beaded garland and used them on my mantel décor to decorate a farmhouse cage filled with moss stones.
I also added a little bird's nest filled with eggs that I wrote meaningful words on pertaining to the occasion. I had the same eggs scattered on the table, so it was a nice nod to the tablescape décor.
To complete the styling of the mantel, a simple vase of neutral flowers and voila! That vase is actually a recycled pickle jar that I upcycled in a previous DIY post that you can see here.

DIY Neutral Easter Table Décor
For my table centerpiece I kept things super simple with a white metal vase filled with neutral flowers. I used my go-to trick to keep bouquets cost-friendly, and mixed faux and real flowers and foliage from my garden to create the arrangement.
For the table runner, I used a piece of burlap straight from the bolt, which I folded in such a way as to hide the raw edges. This runner sat on top of a simple white tablecloth for contrast.
This was really inexpensive and looked ever so pretty! To add more texture, I used dark brown, wicker placemats that I had recently bought for about 2 dollars each. You can scour thrift stores or try Amazon for a similar option.
The flatware was simple with wooden handles, and I added simple stemless wine glasses that also can be used as drink goblets for Easter brunch.
To decorate my table, I added a couple of ceramic bunnies and scattered some Rae Dunn inspired Easter eggs atop wooden egg cups throughout the table.
DIY Rae Dunn Inspired Easter Eggs
For the Rae Dunn inspired Easter eggs, I used an acrylic-paint black pen and wrote the text on white plastic, matte eggs by hand.
Check out the video below to see how I made these Rae Dunn inspired Easter eggs.
DIY Wood Bead Cross Napkin Rings & Easter Party Favors
The wood bead crosses were so much fun to make that I decided to use them as napkin rings too and also thought they'd double-duty as party favors for guests to take home!
In fact, you also set up a wood bead cross-making station for guests to make their own crosses after the meal and it would be a cool way to keep adults and kids entertained too!
I designed those gift tags so you can print them in white or Kraft cardstock, depending on what look you prefer!
Hope you like the ideas and feel inspired to have a go! If you do, tag me on social media @BirdsParty so I can see and share your creativity! 😍
Have blessed, happy Easter! 🐇🐣🙏
